Excess Flood Insurance

Don’t think you need excess flood insurance? You may want to think again. Floods and flash floods occur within all 50 states. And while your primary flood insurance is a good first step, its coverage limits may leave you stuck with substantial out-of-pocket expenses in the event of major damage. AIG Private Client Group’s excess flood policies will extend your coverage seamlessly.

The insurance industry’s definition of flood, and the related events that are typically excluded from homeowners’ policies, are much broader than you may realize. Unfortunately, this is often something that is not learned until a claim is denied.

Before you can obtain excess flood insurance, you need primary flood coverage. In most states, this baseline protection can be added to an AIG Private Client Group's homeowners policy. If that’s not feasible where you reside, similar protection is offered through the National Flood Insurance Program.

Obtaining primary flood insurance is the first step toward proper protection, but its coverage limits ($250,000 for the home structure; $100,000 for contents inside it) may leave you with substantial out-of-pocket expenses in the event of major damage. An excess flood policy will extend your coverage seamlessly.
